One Week Until It Gets Wild Around Here.

Get ready for an amazing lineup of improv theatre in Winnipeg, folks. For the 2011 edition of the IF, we have extremely talented performers coming from Atlanta, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver. Plus, local favourites CRUMBS and the now-legendary Dungeons and Dragons improv cast will be holding it down to represent our hometown.

We're excited to present a free festival kick-off show on Tuesday, September 20th at the King's Head Pub.


From there, all shows take place at the Gas Station Arts Centre in Osborne Village:
  • the Dungeons and Dragons show happens Thursday, September 22nd;
  • Friday, September 23rd features a mainstage show and then our famous late-night jam;
  • and we wrap things up with a really special presentation from Dad's Garage(Atlanta) on Saturday, September 24th.

The Winnipeg Fringe Festival is almost here and to celebrate improvisation we have the longest running improv jam show in Winnipeg to help us out. The Big Stupid Improv Show is an improv jam show that runs in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver and anywhere else that cares to use the name and throw random comedic actors onstage with improvisers for a Big Stupid Show! The show was first formed in Edmonton as a last minute fundraiser and was named by Wes Borg (of Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie fame). The first one in the Winnipeg Fringe happened in 1998 and has been running practically every year since then. The idea is to bring all the great local improvisers and comedians and throw them onstage with all the great touring performers that are in town for the Fringe. Meet... Christian Capozzoli! (New York)

Christian Capazzoli is an improviser in New York City, and that is a famous city. Not only is he from a famous city, he is also an amazing improv player and teacher. He is just so excited about improv he can barely contain himself; he can barely form words. But when he does, they are beautiful words, strung into beautiful sentences. I first got to play with Christian in Vancouver and have loved every time I have been on stage with him since. He still has the honest playfulness of a kid playing in a sandbox, except his sandbox is the stage and he will let you use his best shovel. He plays with 4Track and he will make you wish you had seen them a hundred times after you see them the first time. The Winnipeg iF... Improv Festival 2011

Well, soon. The Winnipeg iF... Improv Festival is going to be hitting Winnipeg September 20th - 24th. The festival is produced with generous help from the Gas Station Arts Centre and from the blood sweat and tears from the Winnipeg Improv community. Keep your ear to the wind as we keep out noses to the grindstone. We will be releasing information as it gets leaked to us from out spies... Well, as the information becomes confirmed, we will release it. Until then, enjoy the hell out of the Winnipeg Fringe Festival which runs July 13th until July 25th .
